Health Law

This practice area encompasses compliance with both federal and Puerto Rico-specific health laws, including oversight from agencies such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Health Insurance Administration of Puerto Rico, Office for the Advocate of Patients, and the Puerto Rico Department of Health (PRDOH). Corporate Law
Our Corporate Law Division offers strategic legal counsel to entities that manage or receive public funding, including nonprofit organizations and private corporations engaged in federally or state-funded initiatives. We focus on bridging the gap between corporations and federal grants, including formation for grant eligibility, board governance, internal controls, and compliance with federal regulations such as the Uniform Administrative Requirements (2 CFR Part 200), as well as agency-specific guidelines in order to maintaining programmatic integrity, mitigating risk, and achieving full compliance throughout the grant lifecycle to ensure an adequate closeout and or the continuity of federal funds. Our attorneys support the Corporate Law Practice with other complementary areas of law including employment, real estate, taxes, and immigration. This integrated approach enables us to deliver comprehensive legal solutions that address the full spectrum of issues impacting corporate clients.
Civil Law
Our Civil Law Division is designed to address contractual disputes, tort claims, and legal conflicts that arise within the operational context of healthcare institutions and corporate entities. We represent corporations, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, and regulated entities in resolving civil controversies through both judicial and alternative dispute resolution forums. Our approach is strategic and preventive, prioritizing effective conflict resolution while safeguarding the institutional interests of our clients. With deep knowledge of corporate law and healthcare regulations, we are uniquely positioned to manage civil disputes with a comprehensive understanding of the operational and legal frameworks in which they occur.
Administrative Law
Our Administrative Law Division focuses on assisting clients in licensing, regulatory filings, enforcement actions, and administrative hearings before agencies such as the Department of Consumer Affairs, Department of Treasury, Department of Health and Department of Labor and Human Resources. We support providers, clinics, and nonprofit organizations in compliance matters involving the Department of Health, Medicaid/Medicare agencies, the Office of Inspector General (OIG), and other health-related regulatory bodies. This includes representation in audits, administrative appeals, and investigations related to billing practices, licensing, and certifications.
